16Ways Track Club - Summer Wrap-Up
Updated: Aug 27, 2018
The 2017 track season has officially come to an end, and it was enriching, not necessarily because of the number medals our club won. Our biggest success occurred in the form of emotional growth our members experienced. We watched losses on the track turn into opportunities for our veteran participants to encourage younger members. Several members overcame physical setbacks and injuries.
Athletically, our season ended with 31 athletes qualifying and participating in the AAU Jr. Olympics, July 28 – August 5, 2017, on the Eastern Michigan University campus (Ypsilanti, MI). Three were fortunate to medal in their events, but in our eyes, everyone won as the road to the Jr. Olympics was grueling. We participated in six invitational meets to qualify.
Now, it’s on to a full indoor season of training and competition, which began on September 10, 2017. Our staff of devoted coaches and mentors reinforce to our athletes that the goal setting, commitment, and passion they possess for track and field translates into every phase of life.
