Changing Lives One Play/Cheer at a Time camp season has come to an end, but positive feedback from each location continues, due to the bonus gift each camper received. We were in Denver, CO on Saturday, June 23, 2018 and Lexington, KY on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Energy and expectations from the boys and girls were high, so our staff did not disappoint.
The format was traditional in terms of campers learning and executing skills, but along the way, and in an ending motivational talk, we reinforced our beliefs and the desires we have for each child to succeed: goal setting, elements of leadership, searching out and seizing positive opportunities, and embracing self-worth. Our strategy has always been to meet young people half-way with sports, while showing them that the effort it takes to become good athletes is the same effort that applies to other areas of life.
Also, this season we supplied each camper with a full-sized backpack stuffed with school supplies and Scholastic books. Parents and campers alike were awed by our generosity and appreciative of the financial back-to-school assistance we offered.
We are grateful to be able to continue putting on camps thanks to many sponsors, contributors, volunteers, parents, and youth.
